Thursday Thirteen!

Filed under: Thursday Thirteen! — dawn @ 2:03 am

well, now that I am looking for a new place to live…my list of thirteen has to do with what I want and what I dont

1. a house or 2 family house

2. nice neighbors/neighborhood

3. 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms

4. something that can be called a yard

5. a place I can keep my cats

6. permission to put in a garden and my pond

7. I would like to be close to the park

8. some sort of a porch or an area to enjoy my grill and my patio stuff

9. Enough room for my “stuff”

10. maybe a basement or storage area

things I do Not want

10. horrid neighbors. I do not want to live like I am

11. bugs. of any kind.

12. lousy upkeep. I have seen some houses that are just wrecks, I would like something that doesnt look like it was not taken care of

13. Problems. I hope that I am able to find a nice place at a decent price, in a decent amount of time

You have to find a place where you can keep your cats. I couldn’t leave behind my kitty-babies and I’m sure you feel similarly.

Mama Kelly

Oh I am not giving up my fur-babies…for so many reasons. Most of it is Love, but my cats are FIV+, and are not easily adoptable. In fact, I have Blackie, a foster kitty with me now. But that is fine, I love them to much to leave them behind. I am going to have to put them into a kennel for a day, while we move, I would hat to think that they might get underfoot or worse, lost.

I wish you the bestest of luck in finding a home you can be happy with. Since it sounds like you will be renting, and I have just gone through finding the perfect new rental house which we will buy in a year, I have a couple of suggestions to add to your list.

1. Request the right to have the house inspected by a home inspector before you move in. True it isn’t a purchase, but sometimes with rentals they have only the barest minimums of electrical, plumbing, appliances etcetera. If they say they don’t mind, it’s probably a fair bet that the house is well taken care of.

2. Even if you are renting through a rental agent, ask to meet the owners and have a way to contact them. We got stuck with a HORRENDOUS property manager and ended up dealing directly with the homeowners in the house we are moving from right now. The owners have been amazing to deal with, I wish it had been them all along instead of the property management firm.

3. Make sure that you can get a receipt for every single dime you ever give them. Our PM lost two checks, and without our receipts it would have meant we had no proof we ever paid it. Luckily, we just had to take new checks to him later we didn’t get hit with bad marks on our credit for being late.

GOOD GOOD LUCK in finding a place. And luckily our tiny barking girls are moving with us at the blessing of the house ownders, they think our babies are too precious.

Cindi

Thank you so much, I have printed out your e-mail and will go about
following your advice.

Good luck with the house hunting. I think you kind of just know the right place when you find it, if you know what I mean?

I hope that I will to, but there are always things you dont know for sure till you spend time there

I am praying to find the right place

Thank you

I think that having great neighbors is so important, especially if you have kids. Happy T13 and thank you for stopping by!

I would just settle for neighbors who actually take responsibility for their kids and stop expecting others to do it for them

Sorry for the Mini-Rant…just been one of thos edays

Good luck with the house hunt! Good neighbours are very important. So are no bugs.

Thanks for visiting my TT!

Thank you, neighbors can make or break a neighborhood. I hope I get lucky

Looks like we are in the same boat. House hunting here, too. :) 3-4BRs, 2BA, a nice FENCED backyard for my little one, porch/deck area, storage bldg or at least room for one!! LOL We have sooo much stuff!! Nice neighbors would be awesome, too! That’s the only thing I’ll miss about the house we are in now! Our neighbors are so nice! :)

Good luck with your search!! Hope it goes quickly and smoothly!!

Exactly! I hope that you find a place too, I am supposed to look at a house tomorrow (crossing fingers)

Much luck in your search for a new place to live. I’d say head down this way since there are numerous houses in my area. :-)

Thanks for stopping by yesterday. I’m sorry I wasn’t ableto comment until today; glad you got the comment section fixed.

Have a great day & a wonderful weekend.

Oh, I think that might be a little to much on the scorched side for me. Up here we get boiled. I am sorry I didnt think of the way to fix it till last night. Thank you, you too!

Thanks for stopping by to check out my list! :)
Definitely good things to look for (and avoid) in your search for your new place. Good luck! :)

Thank you, I hope that I can find what I am looking for

I am with you on that neighbor thing. No matter how nice your place is, neighbors can wreck it for you if they are loud or messy or whatever. Hope you find the perfect spot:-)

that is what happened here, for the most part I have some great neighbors…then we have the “commune”. It is amazing how unmannered people can be.

I’m going to try to comment again….You’re list was great. I agree that good neighbors are important.
Also, can you tell me why it says “delete link” by my name????

The delete link is so you can take your name off the list if you want. I saw the house yesterday. There are a few things that we need to have fixed, but I do hope that we can get the hosue
