Rain, rain…
Thank goodness it finally stopped raining. That horrid storm that caused so much destruction, hit New England too. Fortunately for us, we got alot of torrential rain, had many flooded basements, roads, yards…heck, there was a mote around the house. Unfortunately, the house proved to be a little less waterproof that I would have liked. as a matter of fact the water went above the cement basement walls and ran right into the basement. I was able to get the drain in the basement cleaned out in time to save us from breaking out the boat. The garage, however, still has a little bit of a lake in it. The floor was not made correctly, so the water never actually makes it to the drain. We also found out that the new roof that the owner put on before we moved in, leaked. Thankfully I found it in time and was able to get a bucket under it, and it also seemed to be contained to one spot.
So today, the owner came, along with the roofer/fix-it guy. They “fixed” the roof and will be returning on Monday to take care of the basement problems. The storm had alot of people with basements full of water, finding a wet/dry vac has proven to be a difficult task, and will have to wait for next week as the stores are not going to have any till then.
I can only hope that we dont get another rain storm like that for a while
