reflections in the mirror

I put a screen door in. Yesterday, Socks escaped…again. He has figured out that if he hides behind the door, he can run out without anyone being able to stop him before he is into the yard and impossible to catch. This is a big deal in so many ways.

First of all, I live in an apartment, and they arnt to keen on adding screen doors to the apartments. They dont mind those velcro screen doors, but they dont want anything permanent. So, I found the simplest door that I could find, and came up with a way of attaching it without putting anything into the existing door frame. Basically, I bought a 2X4, wedged it into the door frame, and put the hinge into the 2X4.

Second, this allows me to keep my front door open without worrying about Socks going out or the bugs coming in.

Third…I did it myself! I spent about 2.5 hours at Lowes figuring it all out (I think the guy that I asked for help…thinks I am nuts) I did consider using one of those retractable screen doors but it wouldnt stop Socks and it would also require putting about 10 screws into the woodwork. And, the retractable screen cost twice as much as the screen door and all the hardware. It took about an hour for me to put the door in. The only problem with the door is that I havent been able to find a latch that is strong enough to keep Sir Socks from going out. I have figured out how to keep him from going out for now, but I will an eye out for a latch strong enough to keep him in.

9. I suffer from Migraines…and I do mean suffer.
10. I love listening to my waterfall and my windchimes.
11. I have a pet cow living in my deep-freezer, named Din-Din2. I love a good ribsteak cooked on the grill with lots of bbq sauce. DinDin one was a very good cow
12. I have never met most of my best friends, I talk with most of them online.
13. I fear growing old. I picture myself as a much younger person, and can’t believe that I am growing older. I dye my hair to get rid of the grey hairs.

Going into my photo gallery and discovering that all the pictures of my cats are missing. That is what happened to me yesterday. Thankfully, I had recently backed-up my site and the only pictures missing were the latest ones and I could load them again. Oh, but that isn’t everything.

Frustration is…

Trying to get all the pictures where they belong. I discovered that one of the sub-albums was not ‘lost’ just misplaced. So, I have spent the last day, (taking time out to sleep and do housework) trying to put the ‘Foster Kitties’ back where they belong. Yes, there is more…

Frustration is…

Visiting this site and Top Hat and Tails and finding all the pictures that were there yesterday…missing today. I don’t understand why it took a whole day for them to go missing….and I am not sure I want to know. I just hope that it doesn’t happen again.

Here is the latest blanket…

I have a friend who is having a baby soon, but doesn’t (or didn’t) know if the baby was going to be a girl or a boy, so I made a blanket to fit both. I was awake very early this morning trying to finish it in time to give it to her at church…and unfortunately, woke with a migraine. So, I didn’t get to give it to myself. I hope that she likes the blanket (maybe she will leave a comment here)

Now, I think it is time for a much smaller project. I haven’t worked with thread in a little while and need to remind my fingers how to crochet little things. Then I will work on my daughters blanket…hopefully before any more new babies need their blankets

Miss Abby has made great strides this weekend. Starting with her taking treats from me, while she sat on the couch. The next two days she hopped right up and sat next to me, without my offering her treats.

But I hope that I haven’t undone all the good things that she has done. Today, Miss Abby had her appointment to get her teeth cleaned and checked. Cats need to be sedated for this, as the don’t generally play along like humans do at the dentist. Her teeth are fine for the most part, but when she was coming out of sedation, she had a bad reaction and I think it scared her a little. She still isnt one hundred percent as she doesnt seem to be able to jump up on things like the couch very well. And she barely made it onto the couch and cat tree a little bit ago. She will be fine…hopefully she will not think badly of me.

Largest-known meat-eating dinosaur discovered by Canadian paleontologist

EDMONTON (CP) - One hundred million years ago, in what is now Argentina, a carnivore larger than Tyrannosaurus rex used its scissor-like teeth to hunt some of the biggest dinosaurs that ever lived.

Mapusaurus roseae is thought to have weighed six tonnes and reached 12 to 13 metres in length at maturity. That’s longer than most city buses.

The new dinosaur is one of a group of gigantic carnivores that includes the Giganotosaurus, which previously trumped the T. rex as the largest known meat-eater.
