reflections in the mirror

I am sitting here tonight and listening to the TV commercials. Earlier, I put up the spiral lights and 2 lit reindeer outside. I moved the christmas tree to the bottom of the stairs, to be brought upstairs tomorrow…when it dawned on me, I dont feel like doing any of this stuff. Is it possible to be devoid of the Christmas Spirit?

I hope it kicks in soon.

A year ago today, I got the fateful phone call from my brother telling me that I had to get to my Dad. He was close to the end and we needed to be at his side. It took just 4 hours for me to drop just about everything and leave. By the end of the week, my Dad had passed away.

Tomorrow, I am going to attend the funeral of a very special friend. I didn’t realize that my friend was actually younger than my Dad, and was quite shocked when I learned. She seemed to have so much spirit, so much life, so much wisdom…I really will miss her. My Dad and my friend both died of cancer, not the same kind, but that doesnt really matter. This makes this day, this week, so much harder to get through.

This was taken out the big bay window last night.

I’m sleeping through this day.

I want to wish all those who venture out, good luck.

I should have gotten this posted about an hour ago…but I got upset with something and had to take care of it. Oh well, I am here now

Thirteen random things for Thanksgiving.

1. The list of things for me to do today

Turkey ~ must go into the oven at 10 am @ 325F
Potatos ~ scrub and get into the oven at 1pm
Acorn Squash ~ start working on this at 1:30pm
Stuffing ~ 2:30
Pies ~ cook between 10 am and 12pm

3. We have taken in another Foster Kitty. His name is Duke. He is about 2 years old and would make a great pet for a home with adults or older children. He would make a great one cat household, he feels stress when around other cats.



4. This weekend, I will go and get another Foster, Bruno. Here is his listing on Petfinders and his picture…



5. I am going to start doing an Adoption Day at the local Petco. A friend of mine and I will be taking some of our fosters there, with high hopes that they will be able to find a new fur-ever family. 6. During this holiday season, many people get a kitten as a present for their families…I would really like to encourage these people to remember that kittens grow up. If you plan to take a kitten in this time of year, please consider that your playful little kitten will be a cat. Kittens are really cute, but if you intend on dumping the cat off at the local shelter in 6 months…please reconsider. Cats do take work, they can also make wonderful pets.

7. I don’t go out of the house on Black Friday. I don’t like malls on a normal day, I am not going on a day when almost everyone is fighting to get “the sales” I do have to go to the mall…but I will go when the kids are in school.

8. I am working on another blanket. This one is for me. I dont have any pictures as of yet, but I will post them when I do

9. I also have not taken any good pictures of the house. I still have boxes and stuff everywhere, which has been my excuse. I will have Hubby take some of the boxes to the basement, so that I will not have them cluttering the dinningroom

10. I cant find my LoTR’s DVD’s!!!!

11. Eldest got her report card last week and she once again made the Honor Roll…ok, she would have if they had the Honor Roll in her school. She is in advanced classes this year, so that makes this report card even more special

12. I really like my “Mulled Cider” candle, it makes this house smell so good. I hope that everyone has a happy, safe, Holiday Season.

I havent posted in days. I look at this thing and think that there must be something to write. It isnt that there is nothing going on…there is plenty, but putting it on paper is difficult right now.
I do have something to write for tomorrow…but first I need pictures.

ok, now that I have everyones attention…

I finally fixed the clogged toilet. My son has a bad habit of seeing just how much paper can go through, or in this case, cant go through.

Enough of that

I still have not recieved any presents from the felines and the traps are empty…but I found more evidence of Mouse. At least the cats seem to be watching for the…um, stow-away.

In other news…

Picked up the Turkey today…21 lbs, thawing nicely in the fridge. If the mouse is still around for Thanksgiving, I might invite it to dinner…along with the cats. Still need the pies but that will wait for this weekend.

well, this weekend has been nothing if not busy. That isn’t all good in this case though.

Friday, we were all home, the kids were home for Veterans Day, hubby normally has Fridays off. So, I got to sleep in. We really didn’t get a whole lot done. Did make a couple quick trips out, nothing spectacular though

Saturday, we went shopping for some stuff that we needed…and a lot that we didn’t. But that was fine. We all played a couple rounds of Battleship, and basically had a good evening…until…

I get a phone call from the police department. The officer asked for me and asked if I knew one of my elderly friends, to which I answered that I did, and quickly found a chair as I felt like I was going to pass out. Whole lots of horrible things just popped into my head, as she is 90 and does have some other health issues. He then told me that my friend had been involved in a car accident. My friend has a rather serious case of Macular Degeneration, wet in one eye and dry in the other. She is NOT supposed to drive and I didn’t think that she would have. She had gone to the supermarket for a few items and didn’t want to bother me. By the time she got done at the store it was dark out, not that she should have been driving at all. She couldn’t see the lines on the road and left her lane. She swears that the other lady hit her…I just don’t know.

While on the phone with the police, I told them about her “situation”, and they assured me that they would not be giving her her license back. I have encouraged her many times not to drive and also to sell her car. She is a really independent lady and does quite well…if it were not for her eyes, I am sure she would be fine to drive. So, I went down to where she had the accident and picked her up and drove her back to her house. When we got there, I told her how she scared me and made her promise not to drive her car. I told her that I would be there to drive her were ever she needed to go, if she couldn’t get a ride from the Dial-a-ride.

I am going to try to call her everyday, just to check on her and make sure that she is all set with food, rides and things like that. I don’t know what else I can do. Her family lives far from her and I am the only one she can call for emergencies and things like that. Oh well…

Today, was normal for a Sunday…church, home, nap, dinner, family home evening, and TV. Of course it is now Monday, so a whole day worth of crisis’s are awaiting me. Wish me luck.

I need another day. I am not ready.sorry
