reflections in the mirror

Whatever it is that I have been battling for the last two days, has finally caught up with me. For the last couple days, I have had a sore throat and most likely bronchitis. Add coughing to that and my head has been splitting. Tonight I took my temp after my kids thought that I felt warm…well, I am, I have a temp of just over 100F. Oh, and I have developed an ear ache…

Me thinks it is time to sleep

Not only did Garfield get his new furr-ever home, but Sugar sweetened the deal and the people also adopted him! Sugar, as his name says was a really sweet boy and almost immediately bonded with his Furr-ever-Dad. They were inseperable. Garfield, purred from the minute he was picked up, and just loved his new humans. They loved how Gargfield looked, as he looked just like a cat that they once had. While Sugar was working his way into their hearts, garfield took a nap. The couple had a little girl, who just loved both the kitties.

The second couple to come to the house this evening, took a look at Justin and Mike. Justin was a great boy, but didnt bond right off. Mike, however, played with the couple, they gave him treats and petted him. Mike has not settled as well as the other cats and showed them that he was a little unhappy by swatting at them, but I was able to get him calm again, which I think impressed them. (not because I am impressive, because he settled down quickly) They are going to give him some time to adjust and then he should be fine.

I hope that Garfield, Sugar and Mike settle into their new homes and are happy.

A movie title that would best discribe my basement after this rather rainy Nor’Easter…”A River runs through it”. Well, maybe it wasnt that bad, but it did cause alot of problems.

We are drying out slowly and I am getting ready to seal the basement with some masonry sealer. I hope that it will keep some (dare I hope…all) the water out of the basement. This whole thing has gotten me to work on those boxes that have been sitting in the basement since we moved in. I would like to get everything into plastic totes, but that will all depend on cost. I gotten several totes already filled with some things that were at risk from being destroyed by the water.

We have taken in a couple more cats.

First, we have Garfield. This poor boy was rescued after his owner was arrested. Garfield was without food and water for 10 days. Garfield is a part Maine Coon, so at 9 lbs he is about 7-10lbs underwight. I can feel his bones under his fur, which makes me very sad. Garfield is a great boy, and so friendly. I go down and all he wants is to be picked up…and he purrrrrrs soooooooo loud! I am hoping that Garfield will be going to his new home tonight.

This is Justin. Justin is a great boy too, he loves to talk and loves attention. He is such a sweety, he loves to be picked up and is a talker. Justin has a great personality and I hope he finds a good home soon.

This one is Mike, he is a nice boy and friends with Justin. He has such wonderful markings…big swirls on his sides, and a white tip to his tail. He loves attention, and is always coming to see me when I visit with him.

I have also brought home a little boy named Sugar. Such a sweet boy and a real talker. He also has the swirl markings and great markings to his head as well. I will be looking up a few breed specifications to see if he has the correct markings. I went to get Sugar from the vet where he was being boarded for a little bit and on the way home he, literally, held my finger in his paws. I will be taking pictures of Sugar tonight if he doesnt get adopted.

As I said above, Garfield will most likely be adopted today, as will one of the other three boys. I am so happy for these little guys and hope that they all find their homes soon.

I have been really tired lately and that has hurt my posting here.

Cat wise…
Bruno had surgery last week to have 12 bladder stones removed. He is now in my livingroom, basking in the firelight.

Cookie has been swapped for Layla, I am hoping that Cookie is able to find a good home through the shelter he is now with.

Missy is fitting in well.

Layla is starting to adjust to life here, I am sure I will have pictures within the next few days.

Otherwise…
I have started working in the yard. Not much, just cleaning up after winter, getting some of the garbage picked up (we have had strong winds which have brought extra “stuff” into the yard) and getting an idea where things are going to go soon.

Lacrosse Season starts soon, so that will be another thing to do each day

Taxes are done…and we still owe

not to much else.
